Administration & Policies

Time-off/ Vacation

PGY 2-5 Residents receive 3 weeks a year and 5 days off Christmas or New Year's upon approval from Director of Residency Curriculum.  Fellows receive 3 weeks a year and Christmas or New Year's holiday time-off upon approval from the Fellowship Program Director.  Please see the GME Trainee Manual and Benefit Guide for information regarding dental insurance, health insurance, life insurance and more.

Leave of Absence

Trainees are eligible to take time-off for maternity, paternity, personal, medical, military, or sick leave, however, if time-off exceeds the RRC/ABOS requirements - extension of training time is adjusted accordingly.  The ABOS Minimal Standards stipulate "for one year of credit must include at least 46 weeks of full-time orthopaedic education."

Resident/Fellow Education Fund

Residents and Fellows are given an educational allotment to finance orthopaedic textbooks, scientific meetings, podium presentations, and poster presentations. Scientific meetings must meet the approval of the Director of Residency Curriculum or Fellowship Program Director.

2009-2010 GME Trainee Stipends

The stipends for 2010-2011 will not decrease but will increase. The increase will be determined in the Spring of 2010.
